Hyborian
"The next great hope for American heavy metal" - Decibel Magazine,
"This is an absolute monster of an album" - Twoguysmetalreviews
“To be blunt, Hyborian is a band you’re going to want to start following.” - Metal Injection
“You like giant-sized, fuzzed out, hard-hitting riffs, right? With a thrashy dose of High on Fire, perhaps? And memorable songs? Then I suspect Hyborian: Volume I, the band’s debut album, will be for you…” – MetalSucks
Formed in 2016 by guitarist/vocalist Martin Bush, guitarist Ryan Bates, and drummer Justin Ripetto, the trio got straight to work on their thunderous brand of metal.
The trio honed-in on the material that would comprise their first album and began recording in their own studio by the fall. By years end they saw the album mixed by Justin Mantooth (BUMMER, RADKEY), and mastered by Nick Zampiello (CONVERGE, CAVE IN, PELICAN, ISIS) at New Alliance East and the newly expanded quartet landed their first hometown shows supporting POWER TRIP, IRON REAGAN and MOTHERSHIP.
Fresh off those debut shows, the band released their first album ‘Vol. I’ in March 2017 to a tremendous response. Metal Injection noted “Hyborian brings a new sense of hunger to the genre and their explosive sounds can't help but fascinate.”, Heavy Blog points out that “…this is a band with a tremendous upside…” while Outlaws of the Sun simply stated “Vol I is a superb debut album.”
In late 2017, HYBORIAN inked a deal with Season of Mist, which saw ‘Vol. 1' released internationally in Feb. 2018. The band hit the road hard from the spring onward, putting together tours of the Eastern US supporting WEEDEATER, the Western US supporting THE SKULL, and their own tour of the Midwest with TELEKINETIC YETI and headlining tours throughout 2019. Additionally, the band was scooped up to play Rock Fest in Kansas City (w/ STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, BAD WOLVES and more) as well as headlining night’s of Field Day Fest (Lawrence, KS), and Lincoln Calling (Lincoln, NE).
The first half of 2019 was spent writing the forthcoming new album. In July, the band entered Kansas City’s B-24 Recordings w/ engineer Josh Barber (NORMA JEAN, TECH N9NE) to record the towering new album ‘Vol. II’, which releases March 20, 2020.
