Esham
Hailing from the brutal streets of Detroit,
producer, lyricist, and storyteller, Esham,
rose to legendary status at the young age of 15
when his debut album “Boomin Words From Hell” sold over 100K copies solely by word-of-mouth. The infamous and highly coveted “red tape,” details the perils of being young and black in a city ravaged by drugs and violence – and Esham’s wavering faith.
“I’m not an atheist. But what has God done for me?
Oh, he let me grow up in the motherfuckin’ ghetto”
This spiritual theme became the foundation
for the Wicket Shit. Esham’s music broke
all the rules. Scathing with religious, sexual,
and political commentary, he blurred the
lines of right and wrong and good versus evil.
He blended samples from every genre; with
live instruments and beats he often made
himself. And he released his music on his own
label – Reel Life Productions (RLP). Founded
by Esham and brother James, RLP is one of
the earliest examples of independent hip-hop
success.
With over 55+ solo and group projects
under his belt, his music has appeared on
movie soundtracks as well as Billboard’s
Heetseekers, Top R&B/Hip-Hop, and
Independent album charts. He has toured with
Bone Thugs N Harmony, Ice-T, Vans Warped
Tour, Insane Clown Posse, and Kool Keith.
Esham continues to reinvent his sound on
“She Loves Me” and “She Loves Me Not,” the
next chapter in his legendary story.
